Another big reason for folks to start losing weight now. According to a latest study, obese men over 50 have 30% to 40% more chances of developing erectile dysfunction (ED).

Researchers at University of Colorado Denver and University Of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine have illustrated how obesity and erectile dysfunction are interlinked. They ran the tests on a mildly obese 48-year-old man who was suffering from both hypertension and ED. The tests revealed that despite the use of ED medication, the man could not achieve the minimum erection for having sex.

Interestingly, when he lost his weight under medical supervision, the patient was able to achieve adequate erections with the use of ED medication as needed.

The researchers explain that “the complicated interplay of weight and other health conditions relate to common medical symptoms, such as ED. We are reminded that atherosclerosis can cause not only macrovascular disease such as heart attack and stroke, but also microvascular disease, of which ED is one example”.

We believed untill now that premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction were linked to psychological or physical causes but now it has been revealed that premature ejaculation can be well linked to genes. A research project in Finland has demonstrated that erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation may have a strong genetic link rather than any other external factors being responsible for these problems.

Between 30 and 40 per cent of men are believed to suffer from the frustrating condition called premature or rapid ejaculation. Premature ejaculation is said to be occurring when a lack of ejaculatory control interferes with sexual or emotional well-being in one or both partners.

A previous research from scientists in The Netherlands had linked premature ejaculation to a specific gene that helps regulate serotonin. The latest research has now confirmed a genetic link to premature ejaculation with stronger clinical evidence. During this research project, more than three thousand men—all pairs of male twins and their older or younger brothers were interviewed about the first time they had sex. Most of the persons surveyed revealed that they had suffered from erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation at their first sexual encounter.

Erectile dysfunction is already being treated successfully by using oral medication like Viagra, Cialis and Levitra, sex therapy, vacuum devices and penile injections. Researchers believe that the increasing evidence for a genetic cause of premature ejaculation opens the way for the development of new drug treatments, something that many men might benefit from.

A brief article on why you might lose erection during or even before starting the intercourse.

Discussing about erection problems can be really difficult and hence many men suffer in silence. Losing an erection during sex can be really embarrassing and it can become worse if you lose it even before starting the intercourse. Knowing more about Erectile Dysfunction is necessary if you occasionally or regularly experience erection disorders. Here is a brief list of things to check when you start experiencing erection problems:

Are you over-weight, sedentary or have other health related issues? If you do not exercise or keep sitting most of the time, there are chances that you can develop erectile dysfunction. If you are having erection problems during or before sex, and you are over-weight and obese as well, you will need to get active and bring healthy changes into your life or the situation may get worse.

If you are having erection difficulties, you should get your sugar levels and blood pressure tested and if there is any problem that interferes with your blood flow, you should speak to your doctor about it. According to modern research, diabetes and blood pressure can lead to erectile dysfunction.

Mental health has a relationship with erections. Depression, stress and anxiety can all become reasons for erectile dysfunction. Relationship difficulties can also eventually lead to erectile dysfunction. If you are already on medication for anxiety or depression or addicted to recreational drug use or take excessive amount of alcohol – you might have developed erectile dysfunction as well.

Erectile Dysfunction is very common but it can be treated. Speak to your GP about it and they should be able to suggest what to do next. Losing erection before and during sex can be treated and all you have to do is, seek help.

Once-daily Cialis makes any time the right time

Cialis is a treatment for Erectile Dysfunction and often called weekend drug because of its 36 hour effect. Dr. Tom Keenan explains more about Cialis in this news article.

First it was Viagra, the erectile dysfunction drug that revolutionized many lives a decade ago. Then competing drug Cialis came along, offering a longer lasting effect that was quickly nicknamed “Le Weekend” because it made you ready for action for up to 36 hours.

Now, that same drug may bring on the Endless Weekend.

Cialis, in a lower dose form, has been approved for long-term daily use for erectile dysfunction (ED).

According to an article in The Medical Letter, the traditional “ondemand” dose is usually 10 or 20 mg. In Canada, the manufacturer recommends daily dosing starting at 5 mg, possibly dropping down to the 2.5 mg level if that will do the job.

The objective is to reach a steady state of the drug in the bloodstream, so that any time is the right time for love. A news release from manufacturer Eli Lilly suggests that once-daily Cialis “may be most appropriate for men with ED who anticipate more frequent sexual activity (e.g. twice weekly).”

Of course, this move needs to be discussed with a physician and, one would hope, any affected sex partner(s) as well. (Those on the receiving end of all this extra loving may not be as eager as the pill-takers.)

It’s also important to note that all of these so-called PDE5 inhibitor drugs work by enabling erections through altering blood flow in the penis, so it’s a biological thing. What goes on in the mind is a different and probably much more complex matter.

The science behind the dose:

A major study supporting this new dosing plan was led by Dr. Hartmut Porst in Hamburg, Germany. It was conducted in several countries in a double blind, randomized, placebocontrolled fashion. A total of 268 men, ranging in age from 21 to 78, were tested, all of whom who’d had erectile dysfunction symptoms for more than a year.

Almost 85 per cent of the men who took Cialis reported improved erections, while only 28 per cent of those getting a placebo said things improved in the bedroom. Even better, about half of the Cialis-taking men reported “no ED” at the end of the study.
