Obesity is linked to Erectile Dysfunction

Another big reason for folks to start losing weight now. According to a latest study, obese men over 50 have 30% to 40% more chances of developing erectile dysfunction (ED).

Researchers at University of Colorado Denver and  University Of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine have illustrated how obesity and erectile dysfunction are interlinked. They ran the tests on a mildly obese 48-year-old man who was suffering from both hypertension and ED. The tests revealed that despite the use of ED medication, the man could not achieve the minimum erection for having sex.

Interestingly, when he lost his weight under medical supervision, the patient was able to achieve adequate erections with the use of ED medication as needed.
The researchers explain that “the complicated interplay of weight and other health conditions relate to common medical symptoms, such as ED. We are reminded that atherosclerosis can cause not only macrovascular disease such as heart attack and stroke, but also microvascular disease, of which ED is one example”.
