Lilly LogoLilly UK has started a new ED awareness campaign called 40 over 40 in the UK

Evidence suggests that 40% men over 40 have some form of Erectile Dysfunction.

Lilly UK has started ED awareness campaign in the UK for the first time. This campaign is aimed at people having Erectile Dysfunction with little knowledge about it. 40over40A new survey on ED during this campaign conducted by Lilly ( the makers of ED drug Cialis) reveals that that just over 10% of men in their early 40s are aware that ED strikes regularly in the fourth decade even though evidence suggests that 40% of men aged 40 or over have some form of ED.

Most men do not know that erection problems can be a warning of more serious problems

Male impotence or erectile dysfunction impacts more than a man's sexual activity. The emotions and uncertainties that coincide with erectile dysfunction often have a significant effect on a man's self-esteem, as well as, his relationship with his partner. Apart from self esteem and relationship problems, ED can also be a warning of more serious problems developing silently.

ED could be an early warning of organic heart disease

The ED awareness survey reveals that most men do not know that erection problems could be a warning sign of a more serious condition; less than a fifth of all the men surveyed knew that ED could be a sign of heart disease or other potentially serious conditions.

According to the ED survey, less than one fifth of men have visited their GP in the last 12 months, and that men in their 40s are likely to put off visits to their GP until they consider their symptoms to be long-term or worsening.

95% of ED cases can now be treated by the healthcare professional once reported.

40over40 - The new ED awareness campaign

The ED awareness survey was conducted as part of the new ED disease awareness campaign 40over40, from Lilly UK, which has been designed to educate men on the causes of ED and who it affects, and encourage them to seek help.

40over40 campaign is on now

40over40 TV ADThe ED awareness campaign by Lilly has been launched UK wide from 30 June 2008, with a new web site http://www.40over40.com accompanied by the roll-out of a national TV advertising campaign. The strap line from the campaign is Talk, Test, Treat, Today (4T), and visitors to the web site can download information and advice about ED.

Why 40over40 is important?

The ED awareness is important because it reveals that a significant number of younger men are compromising their sex lives unnecessarily - and may even be endangering their long term health. Too few men are aware that their erectile difficulties could be a sign of underlying health problems like high blood pressure and raised cholesterol levels. If you feel that you have a erection problem, it is not the time to sit back and ignore it. It is time to speak to your GP or healthcare provider about it. The sooner you know about your problem, the easier is the treatment.
